Police said a woman has been arrested and charged with killing her 3-month-old daughter in Chevy Chase.
Mackenzie Rose Colgan, 37, is charged with first-degree murder, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
First responders went to the 7300 block of Summit Avenue on Sunday after the child’s father reported Colgan had drowned their baby while giving the baby a bath, according to police. The infant was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Detectives identified Colgan as the suspect and she was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. She awaits a bond hearing, according to police.
An autopsy is scheduled Monday to officially determine the victim’s cause and manner of death.
